Monday, October 5

After a very early start, arrive in Boston in the late afternoon.

Friday, September 25th

Arrive in Guadalajara, in the State of Jalisco in the afternoon.  Drive to the Laguna de Chapala and stop at Ajijic to see the plaza and the wharf.  After dinner continue around the lake and up into the Sierra del Tigre and at the town of Mazamitla.

 

Stay at the Cabañas de Monteverde, Mazamitla, Jalisco, Mexico

Saturday, September 26th

Morning in Mazamitla.  Afternoon and evening in La Manzanilla de la Paz.  Join the Fiesta de San Miguel Arcangel.  

Sunday, September 27th

Visit Concepcion de Buenos Aires.  Study the work of Rafael Urzua, a contemporary and friend of Barragán.  Return to Guadalajara after stopping at Hacienda Los Corrales, which was owned by the Barragan family until it was confiscated during the second revolution.  


Stay at the Hotel Isabel Residencial Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico


After unpacking, visit the Jardin Cuatémoc and the Plazas surrounding the Cathedral.

Monday, September 28th

Entire day in Guadaljara lto study early works by Barragan and Goeritz - Casa Cristo, Casa Gonzales Luna, Distrito Jardines del Bosque, Iglesia Calvario, La Paloma

Tuesday, September 29th

Morning in the center of Guadalajara to take a closer look at the Cathedral and the plazas surrounding it.  Also Belen cemetery, San Juan de Dios market, and Hospicio de Cabanas museum (a UNESCO world heritage site).  Focus on the works of Jose Clemente Orozco and Mathias Goeritz.  


After a light lunch, leave for the town of Guanajuato.

 Wednesday, September 30th

Morning in Guanajuato, a UNESCO world heritage site. Continue to Mexico D.F., going by the Satellite City Towers, by Barragan and Mathias.  Arrive early evening:

 

Stay at San Marino Suites Hotel, Mexico D.F. Mexico.

 

After unpacking, visit the Zócalo.

Thursday, October 1

Attend the studio of our colleagues at ITESM.  Afterward, Tlalpan and the Capuchin Chapel,  the Pedregal neighborhood, casa Prieto Lopez, UNAM.

Friday, October 2

Center of D.F., principal stop is casa Barragan and its surroundings.  Also spend time casa Gilardi and Anthropology museum.

 

Saturday, October 3

Satellite City Towers and the Arboledas neighborhood.  Zócalo late afternoon.
